The Howells FCCLA members conducted a shoe drive for Soles4Souls from December 1 - 21. Donation boxes were placed at Howells High School, the Howells Community Center and the Howells Public Library. The drive was very successful and 200 pairs of shoes were collected to donate to Soles4Souls, an organization that distributes shoes to needy individuals across the U.S. and around the world.
On December 30, the shoes were delivered to Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon, Iowa. Village Northwest has processed 700,000 pairs of shoes for Soles4Souls since 2009. The employees at Village Northwest sort, organize, and package shoes for distribution.
The shoe drive was organized by Casey Smith of the Howells-Clarkson FCCLA Chapter as part of the chapter's participation in the this national FCCLA service project. Chapter members would like to thank everyone who so generously donated shoes of all shapes and sizes for the shoe drive.
