12th grade ready for graduation
Keith J. Cech
As the last few weeks, days, and hours are counted down, the seniors are inching ever closer to that glorious and emotional last day of high school. Classes are beginning to slow down and it seems that the only thing between us and a diploma is the dreaded senior project. There is little left to do for the seniors except wait patiently for May 9th. As these last days slowly pass us by we find ourselves remembering all the great memories we’ve made over the years. It’s clear that as we get closer to that day, each senior becomes more and more aware of their high school careers ending. As we celebrate the end of the year and finalize the little details of our graduation parties we find ourselves happy it’s over, yet sad it’s ending. I would like to wish all my fellow seniors the best of luck in the future and thank you all for great memories you’ve all given me. We’ve all had some great times, made some great memories and left our mark on Howells High School… now it’s ending. But up until the moment our hats are thrown in the air, remember… “Never give up, never give in, we’ll all stand tall until the end.”

Senior trip was a success
By Josie Poulsen
The seniors had a blast on their senior trip on Tuesday April 29th. The morning started off on a long bus ride to Lincoln but once we got there we were pumped to roller skate. We arrived at Skate Zone ready to have some fun, we got skates, and hit the rink. There were falls and mishaps, and even some injuries but by the time the two hours flew by we all had an enjoyable time. We then went for some fast food and on to Champions Fun Center. Just like the name, it was fun! We all chose from four activities, Free Fall, Bowling, Mini-Golf, and Adventure Maze. We played games, won tickets, and collected our prizes. By the time the few hours went by, we all had some amusing times, before we left we got to enjoy a few free rides on the Free Fall, although Laura wouldn’t open her eyes! We headed off for more food at Dairy Queen and then to the UNL vs. West Illinois baseball game. We all had a great time just sitting back and watching a good baseball game, some of us even got free baseballs, autographs, pictures, and even batting gloves. With the night winding down we all boarded the bus one more time for the ride home. We all came away with an unforgettable day and one of our last memories together as a class.

Reviewing the movies
By Christie Zrust
This months movie review is going to be a little different. Today we are going to go back to 1986 when the movie Stand By Me came out. This movie is based when four young friends set out on an adventure. Gordie, Chris, Teddy and Vern go looking for the missing body of a local teenager - found by a gang of older boys. It’s a compelling story of boys hangin' out and growin' up. Based on Stephen King's Short story "The Body", "Stand By Me" tells the tale of Gordie Lachance, a writer who looks back on his preteen days when he and three close friends went on their own adventure to find the body of a kid their age who had gone missing and presumed dead. The stakes are upped when the bad kids in town are closely tailing - and it becomes a race to see who'll be able to recover the body first. Unable to grasp the fact of his brother's death, Gordie Lachance feels compelled to travel with three friends to see a dead body that has been found near the railroad tracks.
Horoscopes
By Jennifer Vernoy
Aries (March 21-April 19): The people around you might seem like a bit of a mess. Their troubled situations make your own seem easy to deal with.
Taurus (April 20-May 20): You're in a mood to strut. As Dr. Seuss wrote, "Look at me, look at me, look at me now. It is fun to have fun, but you have to know how."
Gemini (May 21-June 21): Don't show your feelings at work. Keeping a check on emotions lets the boss know you are a mature leader.
Cancer (June 22-July 22): Visit friends. The crazy plans you've made will be even more fun when you include others, or at least tell them about it.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22): Still want a loved one to drop bad habits? The best way to affect change is by example. Tonight, new friends are attracted to your positive attitude.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): You use a direct approach to get your point across in a small amount of time. Now, while everyone is in a sensitive mood, couch your ideas in tenderness.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 23): You shoulder extra responsibilities because you realize that it benefits you to do so. You are much better off for taking on more.
Scorpio (Oct. 24-Nov. 21): Your expectation of a loved one has changed. You want much more. Be sure to let your loved one know exactly what your new expectation is.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): What you own is worth more than you think. Get an appraisal to see what you can get.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Your social scene has a formal bent to it. Brush up on your etiquette and you'll handle sticky situations with grace.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Rethink your impulses. Put off signing contracts, initiating romantic hookups and big-deal sales calls. Your clear head will steer you right.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20): Get out and mingle. Tonight your generous gestures of love are well received, especially by a good-hearted Leo.
