FCCLA Members Attend State Peer Education Meeting in Kearney

On February 24-25, over 400 Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America members from 50 chapters across Nebraska attended the 2008 Peer Education Retreat in Kearney. The theme for the meeting this year was "Peer Ed. Musical: We're All In This Together" where FCCLA members had the opportunity to come together to learn about Peer Education. They participated in sessions with speakers from the S.A.F.E. Center, Nebraska Beef Council, State Peer Ed. Officers, entertainment by the Kearney High Swing Choir and keynote speaker Tim Peterson.
Mindi Schlautman of Howells was honored as a finalist for the State Financial Fitness Team. Chapter Awards were given to these chapters:
Families First:

Financial Fitness:
1. Howells-Dodge
2. Maxwell
3. Nebraska City
Student Body
1. Seward
2. St. Edward
3. Maxwell
Winners of Scholarships were: Families First - Emily Nohl of
Crofton, Financial Fitness - Desirae TePoel of Prague and Student
Body - Amanda Tomka of Howells-Dodge.
Attending the meeting from Howells-Dodge were: Britney Konicek,
E. J. Brodecky, Dianna Dostal, Nikki Dannelly, Mindi Schlautman,
Derek Brester, Jessica Kampschnieder and Marla Prusa, State Families First Adviser.
