Scholarship Information As Of 04/17/08
- Omaha World Herald/Kearney Hub scholarship is for first-time freshmen at UN-K. They must have an ACT composite score of 28 or above, rank in the top 10% of their high school class, show significant leadership in co-curricular activities, and complete one of the two provided essays. Applications must be postmarked by December 1, 2007. Applications are available in the guidance office.
- Wayne State College's Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP). This program is a partnership between Wayne State College and the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Special emphasis is placed on, 1) Academic preparation and potential of the student, 2) A rural background, 3) A commitment to return to the rural areas to practice, and 4) A biography of why the student wants to be in the program. - Wayne State College's Academic Excellence Scholarship. This scholarship is intended to reward students who have excelled academically in high school and who are seeking a rigorous academic experience in college. This scholarship is a full-tuition award and is renewable for up to 128 hours of study. The student must maintain a 3.3 overall GPA at Wayne State College to renew each year. The student must be nominated by Howells Public School and the application deadline is Saturday, December 1, 2007.
-Dana College's Scholarship Days. On Sunday, December 9, 2007 and Sunday, March 2, 2008 Dana College will host their scholarship days. The Presidential Scholarship and Academic All-American Award require a 25 ACT composite and a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Other scholarships are available and each department have various scholarship requirements. To be invited to participate, students need to apply to Dana College, provide their high school transcript and take the ACT.
- Midland Lutheran College's Anderson Leadership Scholarship. To be considered for this scholarship students must meet at least two out of the three qualifications and write a compelling essay. The two out of three students must meet are 1. rank in the top 20% of their high school class, 2. have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.5, and 3 a minimum ACT score of 25. If the student meets these criteria, they may be eligible to attend the Anderson Leadership Scholarship Day on Wednesday, January 9, 2008. - The AXA Foundation is offering the AXA Achievement Scholarship. This is a national scholarship. The selection process consists of selecting students who set and reach ambitious goals, demonstrate drive, determination and ability to succeed in college and who have respect for self, family and community. An example of a past winner was a student who started an organization that provided new and used bicycles at the holidays to kids who have had an incarcerated parent. - Elks National Foundation Legacy Awards Scholarship. This is a one year $1,000.00 scholarship to children and grandchildren of Elk members who are high school seniors, going on to college and exhibit the core values of the Elks National Foundation: Knowledge, Charity, Community and Integrity. Applications are available in the guidance office and are due into the Chicago offices by December 31, 2007.
-Toyota Community Scholars Scholarship. This scholarship is open to students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, are actively involved in a service organization or project that has a positive impact on the school and/or community and plan to pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited four-year college or university. Howells is allowed one applicant. The deadline for applying is Friday, January 4, 2008.
- 2008 Peter Kiewit Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program. Applicants must meet all of the following eligibility requirements: be a high school senior who will graduate by June 2008, be a Nebraska resident, be able to present current ACT scores, be ranked in the top 20% of their high school class and be able to demonstrate financial need. In addition the applicant must complete the College Funding Estimator. Visit www.educationquest.org and click on the College Funding Estimator tab and select the academic year 2008-2009. Applicants should use their 2006 tax returns. Even though the program asks for 2007 tax information, use the completed 2006 tax returns as your source document. 2006 tax returns are used because 2007 documents will not be completed by the application deadline. All finalists must provide copies of their parents' and their own 2006 federal tax returns and W-2 forms to verify the accuracy of the information from the Estimator program. Four copies of the completed application must be mailed in a flat envelop and postmarked no later than Wednesday, January 9, 2008. The applicant must also provide an official high school transcript. - Nebraska Elks Association Vocational Scholarship. This scholarship is for students planning on attending a two year or less vocational-technical program for an associate degree, diploma or certificate. A student may not make applications to both the Vocational Scholarship and the Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Applications are available in the guidance office. Application deadline is Thursday, January 10, 2008.
- Nebraska Elks Association J.B. Ferguson Golf Scholarship. This scholarship is for golf team members. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Friday, January 11, 2008.
- Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Norfolk Elk's Lodge #653 is sponsoring the Elks National Foundation 2008 Most Valuable Student Scholarship. This scholarship is open to any high school senior with judging criteria of scholarship, leadership, financial need. -Nebraska Elks Association Past Exalted Ruler's Scholarship. Applications for this scholarship are available in the guidance office. The deadline for submitting an application is Friday, January 11, 2008.
- 2008 Sam Walton Community Scholarship. This is a non-renewable $1,000.00 award for the first year of undergraduate study. To qualify a student must be a graduating high school senior, NOT a Wal-Mart or Sam's Club associate, or the child or legal dependent of a Wal-Mart or Sam's Club associate. The scholarship application is available on-line at www.walmartfoundation.org The deadline for applying is Monday, January 14, 2008.
- Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees' Scholarship. This is a renewable, full-tuition scholarship worth more than $13,200.00 in four years at Chadron, Peru or Wayne State Colleges. High school seniors must meet the following criteria: ACT composite of 25 or higher, 2008 high school graduate, enroll as a full time college student in the fall of 2008, be a resident of Nebraska, provide one written letter of recommendation from a high school teacher or administrator. Applications must be postmarked by January 15, 2008.
-Nebraska Educational Office Professionals Association Scholarship. The Nebraska Educational Office Professionals Association will present a scholarship to one Nebraska student who has shown an interest in business education in high school and who will be pursuing a college education that will lead them into an office related profession. Applications and guidelines are available at their website, http://neopa.unl.edu The deadline for applying is Tuesday, January 15, 2008.
- University of Nebraska - Kearney Music Entrance & Scholarship Auditions. The University of Nebraska - Kearney has four dates for their music entrance and scholarship auditions. The dates are Friday, January 25, 2008; Saturday, February 16, 2008; Friday, February 2008, Friday, March 7, 2008 and Saturday, March 8, 2008.
- Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association's Gary Fisher Fine Arts Scholarship. This scholarship is available to students who excel in the fine arts and are planning to major in the fine arts in college. Only one application per school. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for this scholarship is Monday, January 28, 2008.
- Nebraska Rural Community Schools Teacher Scholarship. This scholarship is available to students who are planning to become teachers or other related occupations, such as counselors or media specialists. Only one female and one male application per school will be accepted. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for this scholarship is Monday, January 28, 2008.
- Norma Ross Walter Scholarship is available to female students planning to enroll as English majors at accredited colleges or universities. Journalism is NOT included. Selection is based on intellectual promise, creativity and character of the applicant. The stipend is $1,000.00 payable at the beginning of the first year of college. This scholarship is not renewable. The application deadline is January 31, 2008. Applications are available in the guidance office.
- Discover Scholarship. This scholarship is open to any junior who has a 2.75 GPA and has demonstrates accomplishments in community service and leadership and has faced a significant roadblock or challenge. To apply online, visit www.scholarshipadministrators.net AND use access key "DISC". The deadline for applying is Thursday, January 31, 2008.
- Bill's Food Mart Scholarship. Howells seniors have until Thursday, January 31, 2008 to register in person at Bill's Food Mart. The student MUST register in person at Bill's Food Mart. The last day to submit cash register receipts is April 26, 2008.
- Doane College's Senator Hugh Butler Academic Leadership Award. The applicant must have a minimum 3.6 high school GPA, a score of 30 on the ACT, complete and postmark the SHBAL application by Thursday, January 31, 2008 and apply for admission to Doane College by January 31, 2008.
- UN-O's College of Business Administration Scholarship. This scholarship is open to students interested in enrolling as freshmen in the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Applications are available in the guidance office. - Susan G. Komen for the Cure College Scholarship. This scholarship is open to students who have lost a parent to breast cancer. For more complete details visit www.komen.org/grants and click on Awards and Scholarships. The deadline for applying is February 1, 2008.
- Central Community College's Early Advantage Scholarship. This award is based on an ACT composites score of 21 or above and minimum grade point average of 2.5. In order to receive an application for the Early Advantage Scholarship, prospective students must have submitted their ACT scores to Central Community College. The Early Advantage Scholarship form will be sent directly to the students home address. The deadline for returning the application is Friday, February 1, 2008.
- Ken Morrison Health Occupations Scholarship. scholarship is open to students attending CCC. The student must be accepted into one of the programs (Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Assisting and Nursing) to be eligible. To apply students need to fill out the scholarship application used by CCC. CCC's scholarship application may be found on line at www.cccneb.edu. The deadline for applying is Friday, February 1, 2008.
- University of Nebraska - Omaha general scholarships. Graduating seniors are not required to submit a UNO general scholarship application to be eligible for most incoming freshman scholarships. The general scholarship application must be filed by Friday, February 1, 2008. UNO is using on-line scholarship application process available at http://www.ses.unomaha.edu/finaid
- Southeast Community College scholarships - To be considered for 2008-2009 scholarships for high school seniors planning on attending SCC, they must complete the online scholarship application at http://www.southeast.edu/admissions/fin_scholarships.asp Preference will be given to students who rank in the top one-half of their graduating class or who have demonstrated classroom performance that would indicate potential success at SCC. The application deadline is Friday, February 1, 2008.
- Northeast Community College's general scholarships. Northeast Community College's scholarships can be accessed on-line at www.northeastcollege.com. From the "Quick Links" menu, select "Financial Aid/Scholarships." Select the "On-line Scholarship Application" link on the left-hand side of the screen, and follow the directions. This single application will be used to consider students for all NECC scholarships EXCEPT those that indicate a separate application is needed. Application due date is Friday, February 1, 2008. - Midland Lutheran College's academic scholarships. To be eligible a student must rank in the top 50% of their high school class, have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.0 and have a minimum ACT score of 20. If students meet these requirements, they are invited to attend one of two Scholarship Days. Those days are Saturday, February 2, 2008 and Saturday, February 9,2008. - Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers Scholarship. The Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers is offering engineering scholarships to graduating high school seniors entering the field of engineering at a four year college. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Monday, February 4, 2008.
- Bill Lewis Scholarship. This scholarship is open to dependents of individuals who are currently registered officials with the NSAA or have been a registered official within the prior 20 years. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Friday, February 15, 2008.
- Farmers Union Coop Supply Co. Scholarship. This scholarship is open to high school seniors pursuing a two or four year degree in livestock production or crop production. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Friday, February 15, 2008.
- Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship. Monsanto Company, in association with the National Association of Farm Broadcasting are sponsoring this scholarship. It is open to seniors who plan to pursue a career in an agriculture-related field. Applications are available at www.monsanto.com or www.ffa.org. The deadline for applying is Friday, February 15, 2008. An application signature form must be submitted by U.S. Mail postmarked no later than February 15, 2008.
- Platte Valley Cattleman Scholarship. The Platte Valley Cattleman will be providing one or more $500.00 scholarships to qualifying students. The scholarship is open to students who will be attending college next year in the area of agriculture. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Friday, February 15, 2008.
- Nebraska Machinery Company is offering two scholarships for students interested in attending Central Community College Hastings Campus in the field of heavy equipment and agricultural diesel technicians. The two separate programs are the NMC Student Sponsorship Program (for Agriculture and Heavy Construction) and the Caterpillar Foundation Scholarship. To qualify for the sponsorships, applicants must 1. visit the Central Community campus at Hastings, 2. complete an application and be accepted to Central Community College, 3 complete an application for the NMC Sponsorship and 4. take, or have taken the school provided COMPAS or the ACT test. The deadline for applying is February 15, 2008. Applications are available in the guidance office.
- AXA Achievement Scholarship. Previous scholarship winners were students who set and reached ambitious goals, demonstrated drive and determination, respect for self, family and community, and the ability to succeed in college. - 2008 Burger King Scholars Program. Application process BEGINS OCTOBER 15TH. Applicants must be high school seniors who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (85%) or higher; work part-time an average of 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year; actively involved in community service activities; demonstrate financial need and plan to enroll in an accredited two/or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school by Fall of the application year. - Northeast Community College's Admission Academic Scholarship. Student recipients must have an ACT composite score of 24 or above and have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.75 or higher. No preference is given for financial need. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for this scholarship is Saturday, February 23, 2008.
- Wayne State College's Art Scholarship competition. Students interested in becoming an art student at Wayne State College may apply. Each applicant must submit 5-10 art works or 5-10 slides in PowerPoint on a CD-ROM of their artwork in any media. If submitting actual art work all flat art work, i.e. drawings and prints, should be matted. Slides of sculptures should include two to three views. The deadline for submitting artwork is Monday, February 25, 2008.
- Nebraska Roping Horse Association's Ray Warren/Tom Forst Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship requires that a senior be in the upper 1/4 of the graduating class and have a minimum 26 composite on the ACT. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for apply is Thursday, February 28, 2008.
- Nebraska Truck Center Student Sponsorship Program. This program is open to any student who is interested in attending Central Community College at the Hastings campus and majoring in medium & heavy duty truck diesel technology. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Friday, February 29, 2008.
- Beta Sigma Psi National Lutheran Fraternity Scholarship. This scholarship is for Lutheran men attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 2008-09. Applicants must display excellent scholarship achievement, leadership in school, community and church involvement. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is February 29, 2008.
-US Bank Scholarship. U.S. Bank will award up to thirty $1,000.00 scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend accredited two-or four-year colleges full time next fall. Scholarship award recipients are selected through a random drawing process. Students may apply online at usbank.com/studentbanking The application process began in October and goes through February 2008.
- State 4-H Scholarships. There are several 4-H scholarships available to 4-H participants. To be eligible an applicant must be a current high school senior, graduating in the Spring, and attending college in the fall of the current year. The applicant must also have completed one year of 4-H and be a current 4-H member unless otherwise stated. The following are the individual scholarships: Loewenstien Scholarship - Must attend UN-L with College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources majors preferred, but not limited to those majors; Horse Scholarship. Must be currently enrolled in and active in the 4-H horse program. R.B.Warren 4-H Educational Scholarship. Applicants must be currently enrolled in and active in teh 4-H horse program and must attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. These scholarship applications must be received by March 1, 2008 at Scholarships, State 4-H Office, 114 Ag Hall, PO Box 830700, Lincoln, NE 68583-0700.
- ACACIA Leadership Scholarship. This scholarship is limited to male high school seniors planning on attending Iowa State University. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Saturday, March 1, 2008.
- Ameican Legion Auxiliary's National President's Scholarship. Candidates shall be daughters, step-daughters, sons, step-sons, grandsons or granddaughters of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during the eligibility dates for member ship in The American Legion. These dates may be found on the application. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is March 1, 2008.
- American Legion Auxiliary's Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members. For this scholarship candidates shall be/shall have been Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary for the past three years and must hold a membership card for the current (2008) year. Applicant must continue her membership in the American Legion Auxiliary during the four-year-scholarship period. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applications must be submitted by March 1, 2008. Applications are available in the guidance office.
- Central Community College's general scholarships. The deadline for applying for general scholarships at Central Community College is Saturday, March 1, 2008. Applications are available online at www.cccneb.edu/financialaid
- American Legion Auxiliary's Spirit of Youth Scholarship for Junior Members. Candidates for this award shall be/shall have been Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary; said member to have held Junior membership in the American Legion Auxiliary for the past three years and must hold a membership card for the current (2008) year. Applicant must continue her membership in the American Legion Auxiliary during the four-year-scholarship period. The applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Applications are available in the guidance office. The applications are due back by Saturday, March 1, 2008.
- American Legion Auxiliary's National President's Scholarship. Candidates for this award shall be daughters, step-daughters, sons, step-sons, grandsons or granddaughters of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion. The eligible dates are listed on the scholarship application. Applications are available in the guidance office. The applications are due back by Saturday, March 1, 2008.
- 2008 Maynard Jensen American Legion Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must be a high school graduate or be earning sufficient credits to graduate fro high school at the conclusion of the spring 2008 semester. The applicant must be a son or daughter, grandchild or great-grand child, adopted or stepchild of members of Department of Nebraska, The American Legion or POW,MIA, KIA or any veteran that was a current American Legion member at time of death. The applicant must attend a Nebraska institution of higher education. The selection process will be made on the basis of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, financial need, and the completion of all information requested in the application. Applications are available in the guidance office. The application deadline is March 1, 2008.
- Central Community College scholarships. The scholarship application for Central Community College is available on-line for completion at www.cccneb.edu The deadline for applying is Saturday, March 1, 2008.
- The Salvation Army's 2008 D.J.'s Hero Scholarship. This scholarship is for students that have overcome hardships. Someone who has risen above and contributed to the well-being of young people. A person who has quietly carried out good deeds. The application for this scholarship may be found at www.givesalvationarmy.org The deadline for applying is Monday, March 3, 2008.
- Nebraska Press Association Scholarship. This scholarship is for students enrolled or planning to enroll in post-secondary educational programs in Nebraska-based colleges and universities leading to careers in print journalism. Preference in awarding the scholarships will be given to students with a specifice interest in news, editorial, photography, circulation, production, or advertising careers on weekly, semi-weekly, or daily newspapers. Selection of the recipients will be based on scholastic ability and good citizenship in school and community. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying it Friday, March 7, 2008.
- Scholarship Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) 2008 Award Scholarship. This scholarship is open to all high school seniors. The deadline for applying is Friday, March 7, 2008. Applications are online at bodybymilk.com
- Eugene L. Sucha, M.D. Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to students demonstrating high academic achievement, community service, leadership, religious participation, and demonstration of high personal character. The students need to complete the scholarship application and have two reference letters. Applications are available in the guidance office and are due by Friday, March 7, 2008.
- St. Francis Memorial Hospital Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship is available to area senior students who plan to pursue a health related career. The students need to complete the scholarship application and have two reference letters. Applications are available in the guidance office and are due by Friday, March 7, 2008.
- Oxbow Scholarship. This scholarship is available to students interested in working in the field of animal health, nutrition, or the pet industry. Applications are available online at www.oxbowhay.com The deadline for completing the application is Monday, March 10, 2008.
- 2008 Columbus Area Human Resource Association Scholarship. Students must be employed or have a family member who is employed with a company that is a member of the Columbus Area Human Resource Association. Applications area available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Friday, March 14, 2008.
- Nebraska Association of County Extension Boards (NACEB) Scholarship. This is a $1,000.00 scholarship to incoming students at UN-L College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources or the College of Education and Human Sciences. Preference will be given to individuals interested in a career in Extension. Applications must be received by Saturday, March 15, 2008.
- Catholic Order of Foresters Scholarship. This scholarship is open to all high school seniors in Dodge and Howells High Schools. One $100.00 scholarship will be given to one student from each school. Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline for applying is Saturday, March 15, 2008.
- James M. Cox Foundation Scholarship. Students applying for this scholarship must have a high school academic record that indicates he/she will be successful in the field of higher education he/she has chosen. Need is required for this scholarship. A completed, printed College Funding Estimator and Results for each college choice from EducationQuest web site www.educationquest.org The committee also will pay particular attention to the parent's Adjusted Gross Income, the number of dependents on the tax return, and the total number of dependents who will be attending an institution of higher education in 2008-2009. - The Rural Southeast Deanery Scholarship. This scholarship is for high school girls that are seniors and Catholic. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Saturday, March 15, 2008.
-Knights of AK-SAR-BEN's Ike Friedman Student Leadership Scholarship. The is scholarship is available to any high school senior who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership by taking action to satisfy the needs of others, by actively participating in service to their school and community, and by motivating others to become involved. Applications are available in the guidance office. The deadline for applying is Saturday, March 15, 2008.
- Kohol's Kids Who Care Scholarship. This scholarship has two divisions. One division is for ages 6-12 and 13-18. To apply the applicants volunteer efforts must be described in detail and should document efforts that are above and beyond what is normally expected of a child his/her age. Volunteer efforts should have made a positive impact on others and occurred in the last 12 months. - Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship. Prospective applicants can access the application packet online at www.nde.state.ne.us/byrd. The application must be postmarked by Saturday, March 15, 2008.
- American Legion Auxiliary's Ruby Lorranine Paul Scholarship - To be eligible the student must be a son, daughter, granddaughter, grandson, great-granddaughter or great-grandson of an American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary member who has held Nebraska membership for two years or an American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of The American Legion member who has held Nebraska membership for two years. Applicant must be a high school senior or a graduate of an accredited high school and have maintained a "B" or better average the last two semesters of high school. Applications are available in the guidance office. Applications are due Saturday, March 15, 2008. This scholarship EXCLUDES applicants enrolled in a school of nursing.
- American Legion Auxiliary's Student Aid Grant or Vocational Technical Scholarship - To be eligible the student must be a veteran or veteran connected. Applications are available in the guidance office. Applications are due Saturday, March 15, 2008.
- American Legion Auxiliary's Licensed Practical Nursing Scholarship - To be eligible the student must be a veteran or veteran connected and a resident of Nebraska at least three years immediately prior to application date. Applications are available in the guidance office. Applications are due Saturday, March 15, 2008.
- American Legion Auxiliary's Averyl Elaine Keriakedes Memorial Scholarship - To be eligible the student must be a veteran or veteran connected. This scholarship will be awarded, preferably, to a female enrolled at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln who plans to teach middle school or junior high school social studies. Applications are available in the guidance office. Applications are due Saturday, March 15, 2008.
- American Legion Auxiliary's Nurse's Gift Tuition Scholarship - To be eligible the student must be a veteran or veteran connected. Applications are available in the guidance office. Applications are due Saturday, March 15, 2008.

- American Legion Auxiliary's Ruby Paul Campaign Fund Scholarship - To be eligible the student must be a son, daughter, granddaughter, grandson, great-granddaughter or great-grandson of an American Legion or American Legion Auxiliary member who has held Nebraska membership for two years or an American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of The American Legion member who has held Nebraska membership for two years. Applicant must be a high school senior or a graduate of an accredited high school and have maintained a "B" or better average the last two semesters of high school. - Gus Swanson Memorial Communications Scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship a high school student must meet the following criteria: graduate for a Nebraska high school in the spring, have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, be accepted at a Nebraska college or university with the intention of majoring in one of the following areas: Advertising, Marketing, Communications Studies, Mass Communication (print or broadcast), Public Relations, Journalism, Graphic Design/Desktop Publishing. - Nebraska Aviation Trades Association Scholarship. This scholarship is open to any high school senior continuing their education. The applicant must write an essay on "How Agricultural Aviation Helps Farmers & Consumers". The essay must be a minimum of 400 words and must be double spaced. Other factors considered in awarding this scholarship are scholastic achievement, leadership and merit. The essay is a critical part of the selection criteria. Type written applications are preferred over handwritten submissions. Official high school transcripts must accompany the application. Copies of exhibits of achievement in scholarship, leadership, athletics, dramatics, community services or other activities may be attached. Applications are available in the guidance office. - ASAP/U.S. Bank - Lincoln Journal Star "We Have Money to Learn" Scholarship. The requirements for this scholarship are: be in the top 1/3 of the class and have an ACT composite of 20 or higher. One scholarship will be awarded each week for 24 weeks. Scholarships will be awarded beginning November 19th and will be awarded through May 1, 2008. - Husker Harvest Days Agricultural Scholarship. This scholarship is open to any high school senior pursuing a program/career in agriculture/agribusiness. Each school is allowed only one applicant. - Jami Harper Nebraska Children's Groundwater Festival Scholarship. This scholarship is open to students entering a water resources field. The applicant must state why they are interested in the scholarship in 400 - 600 words. Must furnish a high school transcript and have submitted a financial aid form to the college they will be attending. - Nebraska Legal Professionals Association Scholarship. The Nebraska Legal Professionals Association is offering a scholarship to a student who will enroll full time in pre-law, para legal, legal secretarial, criminal justice or a law-related program. - College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources Extension Recruitment Scholarship. This scholarship is available for high school juniors or seniors who have an ACT of 26 or above. - Central Nebraska Community Services Mary Dusek Graduate Scholarship. This scholarship requires a student to discuss in 300 words or less their goals and aspirations for furthering their education and the role Head Start played in their education. - Alpha Gamma Nu Fraternity Scholarship. The Alpha Gamma Nu Fraternity of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is offering a scholarship to young men who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, unparalleled leadership, and unmatched community involvement. - Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program. Doane College is offering (through TEACH) grants of up to $16,000.00 ($4,000.00 per year) to students who intend to teach in a high need subject area that serves low income students. TEACH Grant recipients must teach for at least four academic years within eight calendar years of completing their degree. Eligible undergraduate areas are math, science foreign language special education and ESL (English as a Second Language) majors. Students must be above the national 75th percentile in one sub test submitted to Doane (e.g. ACT) OR submit a GPA from high school of at least a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
